Steamed chicken Cantonese style

Love chicken? You got to try this!


You will love this steamed chicken as it's very easy and yummy.
It's a recipe from my partner's Grand mom. She's a wonderful cook
and her methods are very simple but yet she preserves all the goodness
in her dishes. Hoping in the future I will be able to share you more of her

Cantonese Steam chicken

  • Whole medium chicken
  • 1/2 cup of light soy sauce
  • 20g of ginger, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon of ground white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of oil


  • (mix these ingredients well)
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped spring onion
  • 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

1 Marinate the chicken with the all the ingredients
except the ginger. Leave it in the fridge for around 2-3 hours

2 Lay the slice ginger on the steamer and
place the whole chicken on top.
Steam the chicken for around 45-50 minutes.

3 Chop the chicken into pieces, Serve together with the sauce.

Serve 4
